... From the heady days of Return to the Source at Brixton Academy, London in 1995, through to the scorched dust of Burning Man Festival in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada... Medicine Drum have charted a unique course through the outer realms of the electronic music world.
Not quite psy-trance... not quite techno... not quite future-dub, but taking elements from all these styles and interlacing them with driving, earthy tribal/ethnic percussion and world music influences; Medicine Drum's sound and style has always been powerful, mystical and individual.
The band has played all over the world - in Japan, Morrocco, South Africa, Canada, London, Glastonbury Festival, Australia, Israel, Hawaii, Mexico, all over Europe, and the USA.
Over the years and members have included founder and percussionist Chris Deckker (Earthdance International founder), producer Andy Guthrie (Banco de Gaia), producer Alex Newman (Alcyone), vocalist Irina Mikhailova, Vocalist Suzanne Sterling, MC Wisdom, percussionist Mingo Lewis Jr, and violinist / producer Kenji Williams (ABA Structure).
Medicine Drum is preparing to embark on a tour of Australia in Feb 2005. Performing on the tour will be Chris Deckker, Suzanne Sterling and Alex Newman.
Another chapter in the Medicine Drum story is about to begin.... and as the page turns, who knows what the future will bring? Like smoke from the incense Medicine Drum is ever changing, always taking new forms and new faces, dancing to the will of the breeze and forever part of the mystery....
There's a possibility of a new Medicine Drum album some time in 2005. New tracks are in the works. Let the rumours start - you heard it here first....

"When Man took to his bed the Computer, there was great rejoicing, and great fear, too, for their children were almost like gods. The mainbrains bestrode the galaxy at will, and changed its very face. The Silicon God, the Solid State Entity, Al Squared, Enth Generation - their names are many. And there were the Carked and the Symbionts, whose daughters were the Neurosingers, Warrior-Poets, the Neurologicians and the Pilots of the Order of Mystic Mathematicians. So beautiful were these daughters that man longed to touch them, but touch them he could not. And so was born the Second Law of the Civilized Worlds, which was that Man could not stare too long at the faces of the Computer or her children, and still remain as Man."
